Director of Student Ministries for International Justice Mission
Andrea Saccoccio serves as Director of Student Ministries for International Justice Mission. IJM is a human rights agency that secures justice for victims of slavery, sexual exploitation and other forms of violent oppression. IJM lawyers, investigators and aftercare professionals work with local governments to ensure victim rescue, to prosecute perpetrators and to strengthen the community and civic factors that promote functioning public justice systems. Ms. Saccoccio received a Master of Divinity from Fuller Theological Seminary and a B.A. in Exercise Science from Western Maryland College. Prior to joining IJM, she spent nine years serving with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship in Worcester, Amherst and Boston, Massachusetts working with graduate and undergraduate ministries, specializing in multi-ethnic ministry, racial reconciliation and urban ministry development. Ms. Saccoccio most recently served as the Campus Pastor at Whitworth University in Spokane, Washington. While working with Whitworth students, Ms. Saccoccio pioneered a new Leadership Development program in Small Group Ministries. She also taught courses in Campus Ministry and Presbyterian Creeds and regularly traveled to South Africa for a course on the Church in South Africa. As Director of Student Ministries, Ms. Saccoccio is responsible for leading and developing all of IJM's student initiatives, including building IJM's Campus Chapter program, resourcing youth pastors as they teach their students about the biblical call to justice and developing programs for children's ministries. Ms. Saccoccio regularly speaks at venues across the United States, partnering with leaders around the country to equip a “Justice Generation” of students who are passionate about answering God’s call to seek justice for the oppressed. She has traveled extensively in Eastern Europe, South Asia, India and Africa, where she has seen first-hand the suffering that results from violent oppression. Compelled by the reality of violent oppression and the Christian call to respond to it, Ms. Saccoccio works to educate, equip and provide opportunities for young people to be actively involved in great works of service in the world.
